Daily Devotion #1
He who has a slack hand becomes poor, But the hand of the diligent makes rich. Proverbs 10:4
The word slack in the Hebrew means negligent or idle. In other words the person that is lazy or just sitting waiting for someone else to do the work becomes poor. They can be busy but if they don’t take care of their affairs they eventually become poor due to lack of attention to what matters.
Diligent on the other hand means work. So the one that works becomes rich. Rich in the Hebrew means “the condition of being happy and prosperous.” Another meaning is “spiritual well-being.” So when a person is diligent or works they are happy, prosperous, and they experience spiritual well-being. God told Adam to tend the garden or work it.
For you and I we need to find our gifting and then go to work. Be diligent in developing it and use the gifting God gave us to serve wherever God calls us to work. Then we experience a happy life and even prosper which can mean peace as well as monetary. God wants us to use our gifts and be diligent in using them.
Lord help me and those who read this to find our gifts and use them for the kingdom of God. In Jesus Name Amen
