Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Galatians 5:1

The whole book of Galatians the Apostle Paul is addressing false teaching. Men had come in after he left and began teaching a gospel that was different from what Paul had taught. In this verse he exhorts them not to be entangled again to the yoke of bondage but instead to stand in the liberty where with Christ has made us free.

In today’s church there are two camps that seem to be at odds with one another. One embraces a freedom that has no boundaries. This camp says, “we are under grace so I can live a life of sin but God has already forgiven me.” The other says, “I have to look like everyone in church talk like everyone in church brag on my works and follow the rules of the church and all is well.”

Christ freed us from the law which was an outward expression of holiness giving us grace that enables us to live for God with a freedom from bondage. Grace empowers us but according to Titus it also teaches us how to live a righteous life. When we begin to change on the inside there is a manifestation of it on the outside in how we live our lives.

So embrace the liberty that Christ has made us free, don’t do like many who have come out of drug rehab and take up a different form of bondage but allow God to do a heart change on you. His freedom gives us the ability to be who God made us to be don’t take up the yoke of bondage again instead lean into Him embrace the change and live free from sin.
