And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 ( NASB )

The Greek dictionary defines faith assurance, belief, believe, fidelity. The internet dictionary defines faith as complete trust or confidence in someone or something. Another definition is strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

Most Christians define faith using Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” This verse is a description of faith that lends itself to help one understand what faith is in the believers life.

For the believer faith is how we accessed grace in order to be saved so our journey starts as an act of faith. It’s after conversion that faith is now needed to please God and do all He has called us to do in this life.

James tells us “Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.” So for the believer it is important to understand that God wants us to put our faith to work and work is more than just reading the Bible or listening to a sermon. Work means work nothing more nothing less.

Thomas Gaines said this, “It is good to dream, but it is better to dream and work. Faith is mighty, but action with faith is mightier. Desiring is helpful, but word and desire are invincible.”

Today’s challenge: Dream, build your faith, and then put it into action with your work. If you are believing for a new car clean out your garage, if you are believing for healing do all you can do in the physical to take care of your body and believe for your healing. If your believing for a better job prepare and learn all you need to know about it. The point is build your faith but also do the work and see how God advances you in the thing your believing for.
