“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30 ( NASB )
A couple of months ago I was talking to a pastor friend of mine about if I am tired or don’t feel good I feel less creative and motivated. As I began to think about this I began to realize the enemy likes us to be tired so we are less productive and tend to do less for the kingdom. During this time the Lord began to show me scriptures that I know but they became more personal at that moment. The next couple of weeks I’d like to share them in my blog.
First off we need remember that it is possible to get tired because in Matthew the Lord says, “Come to me all who are weary and heavy-laden..” He knows we can become weary which means fatigue in the Greek. Fatigue is related to not getting enough sleep and being restless or overworking. Heavy-laden means to load up or to overburden with ceremony or spiritual anxiety. To me this means we can get so busy working for God we forget to cultivate our relationship with God.
The promise is we can come to Him and he will give us rest. When we yoke up with Him and learn His ways we find out He is gentle and humble which unfortunately can be missing in the believers life when they are all about the works and not the relationship. Then He says we will find rest for our souls because His yoke is light and burden is light.
Challenge: Quit focusing on works and get quiet so you can hear God when he speaks to you. Come to Him give Him your cares and trust Him to give you rest and refresh your soul.
