Friendships are needed if you and I are going to thrive in life. Some friends are closer than family, while others seem to be only for a certain amount of time.
I’ve personally had some awesome friends in my life over the years!
One thing I’ve found about true friends they love you in despite your flaws. They accept you for who you are not what they want you to be.
Sometimes there is tension in friendships. Maybe a difference in opinions or maybe a conflict of character. No matter what the cause of the tension true friends still remain friends.
In the last couple of years I’ve read of lifetime friends fighting due to politics or the virus. This is so unfortunate that friends even family members choose to disassociate due to opinions.
Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Never attack the person, attack the idea.”
I’m reminded of the story of David and Jonathon in the Bible when I think about friends that stick together. David was chosen by God to succeed King Saul, Jonathon’s dad. By default due to being Saul’s son Jonathon should of had this position.
Saul wanted to kill David and threw a spear at him even pursuing him to kill him and his men. Jonathon loved David his friend and warned him of his fathers plans even providing a plan for him to escape.
Later when Jonathon and King Saul died in battle David honored them and killed those who did not. David and Jonathon remained friends even if the King didn’t want to accept David but kill him.
Today friends are separated too often due to conflict. The reality is most conflicts can be resolved with just communication.
God wants us to be good friends. Love our neighbor or friend as ourselves.
I challenge you today look at your closes friendships and evaluate are they for you or against you? Do they add value or are they always in need?
Do they love you for you?
