Carpe Diem

Recently I was reading a book which talked about focusing on today instead of always looking to the future.

As I was reading the intro I couldn’t help but think about a book I read years ago by Tony Campolo titled Carpe Diem which had the same thesis.

Carpe Diem means used to urge someone to make the most of the present time and give little thought to the future.

This message hit home with me in many ways. Goals and the future seems to be the focus for many of us which can divert our attention from today.

Now don’t think for a minute I am dismissing vision or looking into the future, but what I am saying is make the most of today.

If we only look ahead we can neglect today and therefore accomplish little. which ultimately leads to not accomplishing our long term goals.

Another area that keeps many from focusing on today is our past. During counseling sessions I am amazed at how many people are held captive by their past.

We need to let yesterday go!

Focus on today set goals and then work at accomplishing them. Make adjustments to your daily routine and get moving in the right direction.
