Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, (1 Corinthians 6:19, NLT)

Today there are so many get healthy programs with diets, calorie counting, meals ready to eat etc… Just like get rich schemes there are get healthy schemes. Just today I saw an ad that said eat whatever you want just take this pill and you will lose weight and live a healthier life. Lies!

Just like there are no mailbox millionaires there are no get healthy fixes. It takes time and work!

Recently I went to the doctors office to give blood for my annual check up. The results were not what I wanted but I knew that I needed some changes. Changes are what I immediately initiated too.

Lots of times we hear teaching and preaching on financial stewardship in the form of tithing but God wants us to be good stewards in all areas of our lives.

I once heard Tony Robbins tell a story about going to the circus with his family. He shared how he had just started making good money and got close to front row seats.

After being seated he noticed two chairs in front of him were empty. When he asked whose they were the response was one of the richest men in Canada.

Eventually he said the man took the seats both for himself due to the facet he was extremely obese. Tony watch how the man struggled to move, sit up or even bend over.

Tony made the internal statement that no this was a rich man at all. You see he had discovered long ago that riches are not just money but quality of life.

We are the temple of the Holy Spirit which means He lives in us. Therefore we need to steward our health as much as we need to steward our finances.

I knew an individual years ago that wanted to pastor. He had a secular job and made good money but his healthy wasn’t the best. He was obese and carried a great amount of extra weight which resulted in bad knees.

He eventually retired from his job and began pastoring. He was gifted in sharing the gospel and leading his church. The problem though is he dealt with and extreme amount of pain due to his numerous knee surgeries.

Eventually he had to give up his church. God wants us to take care of ourselves.

How do we do that?

  1. Eat healthy foods
  2. Exercise daily even if it’s just a walk around the neighborhood or park
  3. Get enough sleep
  4. Listen to Holy Spirit when He prompts you to take care of yourself

These are just a few things that will get you on track to stewarding your body!
